LaVonne has returned to Columbus, Ohio, to seek a visa from the UK Border Agency — it must be applied for from outside the U.K. — and meanwhile Eric has revised and upgraded the Servants with Jesus website. Click here to check it out.
The Servants have asked Eric to lead and develop their men’s ministry called “Men at the Gate” (Proverbs 31:23). Eric has called a breakfast meeting on August 10 for all who may be interested.
The men at the gate of Proverbs 31:23 were respected leaders and elders. Eric’s vision for the Men at the Gate is fourfold:
a) Fellowship – As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17);
b) Encouragement – Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing (1 Thess. 5:11);
c) Mentoring – You do not have many fathers (1 Cor. 4:15). Encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness (Titus 2:6-7);
d) Discipleship – Therefore go and make disciples…(Matt. 28:19)
Men at the Gate is open to men of all churches; and the aim is to disciple and mentor young men for Jesus Christ, looking in all things to set them a good example.
